Family Fitness ProgramNew Holland Rec Center is offering Penn State's Family Fitness Program. The family fitness program is a five week program for all children ages 8-12, especially those who are at risk for becoming overweight or who are overweight. Children attend the program for 1.5 hour lessons to learn about making healthy food choices and ways to increase physical activity. Parents attend five of the ten sessions with their children to receive information, skills, and motivational guidance leading to improved food choices, physical activity, and family support. Family Fitness, which is based on Stages of Change Learning Theory and motivational interviewing techniques, provides parents, adult caregivers, and children with the information, skills, and motivational guidance necessary to achieve diet quality and a healthy level of physical activity. Youth Pay to Play Open GymSummer Floor HockeyWednesdays from 1:00-3:00 New Holland Recreation Center Summer Camp!!!(For kids who completed K-5th Grades)Download Registration Week Descriptions Week 1: Pack and Play Outdoor Adventure - June 29th - July 3rd. Join as for this challenging week of hiking and outdoor adventure. Children will learn the basics of surviving in the wilderness and will learn about the habitat and ecological systems In which they live. Search and rescue dogs and their handlers will be the special guests of the week. The trip highlights of the week: Shanks Mare Park- Will give an overview of habitat, ecology, and history of the Susquehanna River & Hiking/Backpacking at Brubaker Park Week 2: Time Capsule Week - July 6th - July 10th Step back in time during this fun filled retro week. Kids will lean and participate in new things everyday that have to do with different decades. This fun filled week is made even more exciting with our tie die shirt day & our retro dress up day. The trip highlights of the week: Historic Lititz pretzel & Wilbur chocolate tours. Week 3: Brain Power Week - July 13th - July 17th Join us as you allow your brain to expand as we experiment with science and math. Enjoy solving puzzles & mind benders, experimenting with the sciences, & exploring the world around you during this fun filled cognitively stimulating week. The trip highlights of the week: Lancaster science factory & the North Museum of Natural History and Science Week 4: Learn a Sport Week - July 20th - July 24th Spend a week outdoor learning new sports, exercising, and enjoying the beautiful weather! Kids will participate in 2 hours of tennis instruction, 1 hour of soccer instruction, 1 hour of basketball instruction, and one hour of street hockey instruction (5th grade only) Through out the week not to mention the numerous fun games we will be playing. The week is topped of with a trip to the Barnstormers game!
